Private music instruction for band students

About Rolando Benitez

I am a professionally trained musician and music educator based in the Houston area, with over 10 years of experience teaching students of all ages and backgrounds. I received my formal music education at the Conservatorio Amadeo Roldán in Havana, Cuba, where I studied music theory, composition, and performance with a strong emphasis on film scoring and musical structure.

My teaching approach is built on patience, clarity, and strong fundamentals. I believe that every student can learn music when concepts are presented in a clear, thoughtful, and age-appropriate way. With young beginners, I focus on simple, engaging methods that build confidence and curiosity. With teens and adults, I incorporate deeper musical and philosophical ideas that help students understand why music works, not just how to play notes.

I teach saxophone at all levels, as well as piano, clarinet, and flute up to the intermediate level. Lessons are personalized to each student’s goals — whether they are learning music for school, personal growth, or as a meaningful hobby later in life. My goal is not only to help students play their instrument, but to help them develop focus, discipline, and a lasting relationship with music.

In addition to teaching, I also perform professionally for private events. This active performance background allows me to bring real-world musical experience into my lessons while keeping the primary focus on education, progress, and student development.
